about series five

Gethsemane:The garden where, according to tradition, Jesus and his disciples retreated to pray after the Last Supper, the night before he was crucified. The Gospels of Mark 14:32 and Matthew 26:36 call it chorion, "a place" or "estate,” whereas John 18:1-6 speaks of it as kepos, a "garden" or "orchard."

According to, Jesus' anguish in Gethsemane was so deep that "his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Gethsemane was also where Christ was betrayed by the disciple Judas Iscariot.

Luke 22:43–44 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, and said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Garden Tomb: The site of the Garden Tomb also close to the side of a rocky escarpment (just behind the Arab bus station), which resembles the face of a skull (thus fitting a possible interpretation of "Golgotha"), that is near the site Gordon identified as Calvary. The site also falls outside of the traditional walls of the first-century Jerusalem. The slope has eroded badly in the last hundred years, but some maintain they can still see the eye sockets and the nose bridge.

Luke 24:31     But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,  but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

Revelation 22:20     He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
Peace is Realized

Colossians 1:20 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

“made peace through the blood of the cross”
